Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14.34
Lord we confess that we have not been a righteous nation, from the least to the greatest, we have abandoned your commands, our hands are stained with innocent blood, our immorality has reached the heavens, every thought of our hearts is evil continually. We have served God in public but bowed to other false gods and idols in private. Lord we repent and ask for your forgiveness.
Lord cleanse us from the inside out, we plead the merit of the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. We have been a reproach among many nations, the mention of nigeria makes many people uncomfortable, no one expects any good from here, even those who claim to love and fear you have brought so much shame and disgrace to the name of Jesus. Lord we repent and ask for your forgiveness.
After six decades of our independence, we’re worse than slaves in our own country, living in penury and abject poverty, when we’ve been blessed with so much. Lord we cry out for your mercy and divine intervention, release nigeria from every demonic stronghold and bondage. We’re knee-deep in ungodliness, immorality and idolatry, deliver your people. Lord have mercy and heal our land.
Suppose ten should be found there? And He said, I will not destroy it for the sake of ten. Genesis 18.32
Lord you said if there were ten righteous people in Sodom and Gomorrah, you wouldn’t destroy it. Aren’t there ten or more righteous people in nigeria? Lord look down in mercy and remember those who have not lifted their soul to any false god, who fear and honour the Lord, who have served you faithfully and are living each day to please the master, may our cry come before your temple Lord. Remember your people in nigeria. Lord have mercy.
Will the Judge of all the earth not do right? Far be it from You, to slay the righteous with the wicked. Lord please don’t give us over to the will of our enemies. Arise O Lord, You who rule in the affairs of men, show yourself strong and mighty on behalf of your people. Let your will be done. We don’t know what to do, our eyes are on you. We lift up our eyes to the hills from where our help comes from. Our help isn’t in a politician, party or policy. You are help O Lord. Lord have mercy.
Lord you said those who trust in the Lord will not be put to shame. Our only hope is in you Lord. Many trust in chariots and horses, we will put our trust in the name of the Lord Jesus. Deliver us from our distress, lead us on the right path. Satisfy our longing souls, fill each hungry soul with your goodness. We hold on to every promise in your word. You said you will not leave us not forsake us. Lord have mercy. Lord fill out hearts and homes with your peace.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6.12
Lord we are up against more than we can see and handle. The solutions to our nation’s problems are obvious and achievable and not out of reach as we’ve been lied to over and over again but we are unable to make any progress with so much demonic stronghold over our nation. Lord deliver nigeria from the shackles of the enemy. So much investments over the years but nothing to show for it. All our efforts are seeping through bags with holes. So few steps forwards but several steps backwards. Lord have mercy.
Many are planning and plotting, Lord frustrate the devices of the crafty and bring them to nothing. Arise O Lord and deliver us from the plans of the enemy in the name of Jesus. We lift up everyone vying for an office, Lord do what only you can do. Raise godly men and women who will be responsible and accountable to do your bidding. We pray for peace at polling stations and collation centres. Deliver us from us from evil.
Many are sad, angry and fearful. Lord have mercy, many have lost their livelihoods, many are grieving loved ones who have been kidnapped and killed, many are living in fear, many have no clue where their next meal will come from, many are collapsing under extreme depression and anxiety, Lord have mercy. The weapons of our warfare are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. We pull down every stronghold in nigeria in the name of Jesus. Lord deliver nigeria from the captivity of the enemy. Lord fill our mouths with joy again.
Many are medicating their pain wih everything except Jesus, many young men are on a slippery path to destruction, Lord have mercy. Many women have lost their way and wrestling with so much evil. Many families are in a sorry state. Lord Jesus you are still the same God yesterday, today and forever, you are still the resurrection and the life, breathe over so much death and destruction hanging over our generation. Lord we cancel every evil orchestrated plan over our country in the name of Jesus.
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7.14
You are still the God whose eyes roam to and fro the earth acting strong on behalf of them that fear you. Lord we humble ourselves and seek you, we turn from our wicked ways, Lord hear from heaven and heal our land. Deliver us from wicked and evil leaders whose only aim is the fleece our resources for their selfish benefit. You lift one up and put another down. Lord lift to prominent positions those who fear you and will serve this nation and bring to the lowest low those who are no longer relevant nor will add any value to us.
The Lord kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up. The Lord makes poor, and makes rich: he brings low, and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes. Lord keep the feet of your saints, may the wicked be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no one prevail. Lord your adversaries shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven thunder upon them: Lord judge the ends of the earth; and give strength unto your chosen leader, and exalt the horn of your anointed one. Amen
Lord you can bring beauty from ashes, we’ve been weeping for several years over the state of our nation, Lord would you give us sounds of joy and rejoicing. Lord would you restore the decades the locusts have consumed. May your mercy prevail. How long O Lord will your people continue to languish while our enemies say ‘where is our God?’ May your grace and favour shine upon us, look down in mercy and hear our cry. O Lord satisfy us early with your mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Out of Nigeria, may hope arise again.
God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Psalm 62.11
O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? Lord we cry out to You in our affliction, hear and save us. Our nation has slumped under several evil and repressive leaders. Lord deliver us. O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our eyes look to the Lord our God, until you has mercy on us.Help us, O Lord our God, save us according to Your mercy. Arise and have mercy on nigeria; the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come. Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Show us Your mercy, Lord, And grant us Your salvation. We hope in your mercy O God.
Lord you said we should call to you, and you will answer us. We cry out for your mercy, Lord do not give us to the will of our enemies. Lord answer us in the day of trouble, may the name of our God defend us, send us help from the sanctuary and strengthen us. Remember all our offerings and accept our burnt sacrifice. Grant us according to our heart’s desire for peaceful elections and leaders who will serve our nation and fulfill your will. Lord answer from your holy heaven with the saving strength of your right hand. Grant us rest on all sides. Amen
Lord you see the corruption and international collaboration at the several berthing terminals, the evil that goes on at the sea ports, the illegal mining and theft of our nation’s resources, the thriving kidnapping enclaves, the sorry state of our infrastructure, the high unemployment rate, the Chibok girls that were never accounted for, our generation sliding into depression and destruction. Lord have mercy, only you by your power can deliver us, against the gods of nigeria, execute your swift judgement, rescue your people from evil and wicked leaders. Our hope is you Lord.
Is there anything too hard for the Lord? You are still the God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond all we have asked or imagined. Lord exceed our expectations. You are the miracle working God, your name is Yahweh. Lord breath your peace over our nation. Thank you Lord because we will not be stranded, you will not abandon us. We will return with thanks for the great things you will do for our nation. Not unto us O Lord but to thy name be all the glory.
Lord we desire a new nigeria but we ask you to change us from the inside as a nation. Reveal yourself to every nigerian, turn our hearts from evil to seek the living God, give us a heart that pants after you, that seeks to please you in all we do. From the least to the greatest, grant us a reawakening to your purpose. Take away our lust for sin and iniquity, grant us new hearts. We take down every idol we’ve set up in our hearts and homes, Lord enable us put you first in all we do.
We desire to lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. We intercede for our leaders and all those in authority, Lord grant us rest on all sides. Lord cause your anger to cease towards our nation, revive us again, show us your great mercy, grant us your salvation. Lord turn back our captivity, fill our mouths with laughter and our tongues with singing. May it be said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for us’.
Amen
